Modelling of Acoustic and Elastic Waves Induced by Railway Traffic

Ground-borne vibration and radiated noise from railway traffic is a major environmental concern in urban areas. International standards address these negative effects and evaluate the whole-body human exposure to vibration.

Several numerical methodologies to compute the propagation of railway vibrations from track to free-field and buildings have been developed and experimentally validated. The models have strong prediction ability.
